What is a House Concert?
A house concert is an invitation-only concert in someone’s home, presented by a host who does not profit from the event. It is considered a “private party” yet it is not your typical “party” environment. House concerts are well-appreciated by artists and attendees alike for the attentiveness of the audiences, the respect given to the performers and the relaxed intimacy of the events. While they are not commercial endeavors, the artists profit by receiving donations that are collected. It is our view that there is no better venue to listen to live acoustic music, particularly traditional Irish music, than a house concert setting. After all, Irish music has its roots in homes all over Ireland, where children grew up literally playing under the kitchen table while their parents played music around it.
A house concert is the best way to be up-close and personal with the music without the distractions of noisy pubs and concert venues.
A concert typically:
- is held indoors
- is attended by 20 – 50 people
- features performances by solo, duos, and small groups
- is performed with a very small sound system or no amplification depending on the rooms used
- includes two 40-minute sets with a 20-minute break
- is funded by a set donation per guest the total of which is paid to the artists

But for Seo Linn (pronounced as Show Linn), the plans are only to get bigger and better. An energetic group of young musicians, they burst onto the Irish music scene with not only powerful original songs, but also unique takes on contemporary tracks with the injection of their passion for Gaeilge.
From Coláiste Lurgan to RTÉ 1916 Centenary Celebrations the boys have been growing and developing their musicality. Seo Linn’s debut original album Solas won the 2018 NÓS Music Awards ‘Album of the Year’ including tracks such as the RTÉ endorsed ‘Music Makers’ for RTÉ Centenary, the Official FAI Euro 2016 anthem, ‘The Irish Roar’ and the beautiful title-track ‘Solas’ recorded with the Cork Youth Orchestra.
High energy, interactive and unforgettable live performances have seen Seo Linn spend the last few months touring Australia while writing new music. They are now back home with a Irish tour culminating in a Headline Show at the famous Whelan’s Live Venue, Dublin on the 14th July before they shoot off to the States for a month long U.S. Tour.
Stiofán, Keith, Daithí, and Kev have brought together their musical talents to create a distinctive style that meshes the old and the new. Their sound encapsulates a traditional sense of Irishness through the medium of contemporary, high octane, engaging music in what we can only describe as a treat for your ears. This is a band that you need to see live to believe the incredible energy and engagement that they bring to the stage.
