Irish Music Fundamentals

Spring 2018

Open to any player of a typical Irish session instrument (accordion, banjo, bodhran, bouzouki, concertina, fiddle, flute, guitar, harp, mandolin, uilleann pipes, whistle)

When: 1st, 3rd, and 5th Mondays, 6:30 – 8:00 pm
(Note: we start playing at 6:30, so arrive a few minutes early to get your instrument prepared, etc. to avoid delaying the whole group)

Location:

  • 1st & 5th Mondays: UNI, Russell Hall (Bldg 38), Room 161.
    — Free parking is available after 6 pm behind the Gallagher-Bluedorn (Bldg 52)
  • 3rd Monday: Elms Pub, New Aldaya Lifescapes, 7511 University Ave, Cedar Falls
    — This is about 3 minutes from UNI, east on University Ave.
    — Go through the main entrance (Door 4) and the pub is just inside on the left.

Format: First 45 min – Work on tunes provided (download above). Second 45 min – work on any tune from current or previous classes, or anything two or more people know.
