House Concert

Get Close to the Music...

Aoife Scott

What is a House Concert?

A house concert is an invitation-only concert in someone’s home, presented by a host who does not profit from the event. It is considered a “private party” yet it is not your typical “party” environment. House concerts are well-appreciated by artists and attendees alike for the attentiveness of the audiences, the respect given to the performers and the relaxed intimacy of the events. While they are not commercial endeavors, the artists profit by receiving donations that are collected. It is our view that there is no better venue to listen to live acoustic music, particularly traditional Irish music, than a house concert setting. After all, Irish music has its roots in homes all over Ireland, where children grew up literally playing under the kitchen table while their parents played music around it.

A house concert is the best way to be up-close and personal with the music without the distractions of noisy pubs and concert venues.

A concert typically:

  • is held indoors
  • is attended by 20 – 50 people
  • features performances by solo, duos, and small groups
  • is performed with a very small sound system or no amplification depending on the rooms used
  • includes two 40-minute sets with a 20-minute break
  • is funded by a set donation per guest the total of which is paid to the artists

Aoife Scott

“Her sublime voice is a thing of beauty that stops people in their tracks. Fragile and ethereal one minute and strong and vibrant the next, Dublin Folk singer-songwriter Aoife Scott has become a force to be reckoned with on the Irish folk and traditional scene.”

Aoife (pronounced “EE-fa”) arrives with an impeccable pedigree as a member of the legendary Black Family, which includes her mother, Frances, and her aunt, Mary. Aoife is steadily rising to the top of the traditional and folk music scene, while garnering acclaim and recognition both here and abroad.

Aoife gained invaluable international experience when she spent a year touring worldwide as lead singer with The Outside Track, whose marriage of Canadian, Scottish and Irish music and song has been rapturously received around the world. She has also performed with some of the finest acts on the folk and traditional scene both here and abroad, including We Banjo 3, Full Set, Sharon Shannon, Séamus Begley, Altan, Cherish the Ladies, Declan O Rourke, John Prine, and of course, the Black Family.

She represented Ireland in Udine, Italy, in the Minority Language competition, Liet International, a multilingual alternative to the Eurovision Song Contest. She was featured in an NPR documentary on the event, which was broadcast to an audience of 26 million people in the USA. Her solo career was assuredly launched when she won the coveted Fastrack to Feis competition, which over 1,000 artists entered, and played support at the London Feis to Bob Dylan and Van Morrison, among other acts.

Since launching her debut album, Aoife has embarked on a worldwide tour, captivating audiences throughout North America, Europe and Australia. She has headlined at some of the biggest festivals on the Folk and World music circuit including Port Fairy Folk Festival, Canberra’s National Folk Fest, Michigan Irish Music Festival, and Germany’s Irish Folk Festival Tour.

In 2017 she completed an extensive tour of the United States which included a headliner spot at the world’s biggest Irish music festival, the Milwaukee Irish Fest. She also won the Irish Folk Music Award for Single of the Year 2017 for her song, “All Along the Wild Atlantic Way”.

Aoife is joined on her current tour by her partner Andrew Meaney on guitar and accordion.

This will be a fantastic performance designed for an intimate house concert setting. Don’t miss your chance to hear Aoife up close and personal!
